Spring Tournament Rules 2016
Chapter VHF Tournament Channel 71
Dates: April 29 – May1, 2016
Weigh In: If you are fishing the main MSSA Tournament, you must check your fish in at any
MSSA weigh in location, according to the MSSA guidelines. Then you must provide the
yellow receipt to the chapter weigh master by May 4th. Receipts will not be accepted
after May 4th. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only 2 fish per day can be weighed regardless of the
weigh station (MSSA’s or Frederick’s). If you fish the Main MSSA Tournament you
must weigh with the main. Anyone fishing the Frederick Chapter Tournament ONLY
must bring their fish to the Comfort Inn/Beacon Marina by 5:30pm on Friday &
Saturday and 5:00pm on Sunday GPS time. The weigh master is Chris Linetty and his
cell is 301-988-1305. Awards will be given at the meeting on May 11th.
Entry Fee: $80.00 / Boat by March 9th Early Bird Discount
$100.00 / Boat March 10th – April 13th
Last day to sign-up is April 13th, 2016 at the chapter meeting.
Calcutta: Optional $100 / Boat if paid by March 9th, winner take all for heaviest single fish.
$125 if paid March 10th to April 13th. You must enter our main tournament.
All tournament fees are non refundable.
Rules: Boat Captain must be current Frederick Chapter MSSA member. Only one day needs to
be fished to be an official tournament. Unless noted above we will follow the main
MSSA Spring Tournament Rules attached on the following page. Species is rockfish
only. Winners will be determined by the combined weight of 3 fish. Only 1 place per
boat & you can check 2 fish per day. Fish must be weighed the day caught. You cannot
fish from a charter boat. Kids and women’s fish will not count in our daily tournament.
You must determine which fish you want to weigh. Neither the MSSA nor the Frederick
MSSA will cull fish for you on the official scale.
The Chapter will provide an additional $350 for prizes. We will have a $100 daily for the
closest to the weight without going over: Friday – 25.4 lbs., Saturday 24.3 lbs. and
Sunday 23.2 lbs. In case of a tie funds will be split. The $50 will be a lucky loser (must
be present at meeting to win)
Prize Payout: 3 Prize Tournament 10 boats & under
4 Prize Tournament 11 + boats
Accommodations: Discounted rooms ($74.99/night) are available at the Quality Inn / Beacon Marina
in Solomon’s Island. Call 410-326-6303 and reservations are under the group
name: Robert Pellicot. The address is 255 Lore Rd. Any issues call Rob at 301-
Marina: Beacon Marina is associated with the Quality Inn and is located directly behind the
motel. Sign-up for slips is on the tournament entry form and payment will be due with
the tournament fees. The boat ramp is located under the Rt. 2 Bridge and there is a
nominal fee. Trailer parking is available at the motel or the boat ramp.
Dinner: The chapter will host a dinner on Friday April 29th at 7:00pm at the Solomon’s Island
Fire House. Price is $18 per person by March 9th or $23 by April 13th. No sales at the
door. We will have a raffle with numerous prizes including a Rod & Reel ready to fish.
We’ll also have a 50/50 drawing.
