On June 10th, Fisheries Service convened an ad hoc meeting of SFAC members to present and discuss information pertaining to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (ASMFC) development of Draft Addendum IV to the Interstate Management Plan for Striped Bass. At the meeting, it was noted that the target harvest reduction levels associated with the 1 to 3 year time frames under consideration were likely to change downward due to new information available to the ASMFC Technical Committee but these changes were not yet available.
The revised target harvest reduction levels have since been reviewed by the Technical Committee and are now available. The attached presentation has been updated to include these revised harvest reduction targets as well as potential management options to achieve these reduction targets.
Please read the introductory slide carefully. We hope that this information helps you discuss this management issue with the stakeholders you represent, and that you will be able to provide Fisheries Service with your management preferences at the July 22nd SFAC meeting.
