President’s Message
It’s June, can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday we were chomping at the bit, eagerly waiting for opening day to begin our fishing season.
The chapter has had two, well attended and successful tournaments shared by the many members that chose to show case their skills. On behalf of the chapter, I’d like to send out a huge “Thanks and Great job” to those who spent countless hours to organize and set up these events. For those that participated, without a doubt, you have to agree, these two tournaments were well run, a lot of fun and rewarding for all.
Now that we’ve moved into summer, we’ll begin a series of off shore meetings, vendors and events. This month’s meeting will be packed with information regarding tuna fishing which has begun to heat up with reports of a nice blue fin and yellow fin bite at many of the well know haunts.
See Rob Pellicot about the upcoming Tunament. Rob will be running the show out of Chincoteague again this year. Also, consider participating in the “Beach and Boat” tournament in August. We will have info at the meeting regarding these two tournaments or visit the mains website to sign up or find out more about each.
Finally, one of our favorite chapter activities, our annual crab feast, will have some changes made to it this year. First, we will be moving it to Urbana to better accommodate our attendees. As you know, for each set of 10 raffle tickets you sell, you receive one free entry into this food fest. Second, with the dismal outlook for crabs this year, it is evident that the cost of crabs will sky rocket. Having said this, expect ticket prices to increase towards market value. Therefore, not only to help support the chapter by raising operating funds, it is suggested that everyone make extra ordinary efforts to sell raffles tickets to lighten the burden of cost to attend this event.
